About This Piece:
This exceptional oil painting depicts gorgeous bartlett and anjou pears on a lively background executed on stretched canvas. There is a lot of expressive energy and textural quality in the brushwork and the paint is applies thickly with a palette knife. The colors vary from yellows and greens with seafoam blue. This piece would fit into both modern and traditional decorating styles.
Exhibited at galleries and selected for prestigious juried shows throughout the New York tri-state area, Schulman's works are also included in private collections internationally. She has been published in The New York Times, and was recently a winner at Waterworks in Westchester. Schulman's uniqueness comes from her mastery of watercolor for portraits; a medium rarely used for portraits but is ideal for expressing luminosity of skin tones. The artist studied art and art history while at Dartmouth College.
