This exceptional 24x30" oil painting depicts gorgeous day lilies on a yellow and green background executed on stretched canvas. There is a lot of expressive energy and textural quality in the brushwork and the paint is applies thickly with a palette knife. The colors vary from yellows and greens with vibrant blue in the Sangria pitcher. This piece would fit into both modern and traditional decorating styles.
Frame and Matting
The piece will be shipped well protected and ready for your choice of framing. Stretchers are included. The piece is stapled on the back and does not require a frame. Although a simple one should complement it perfectly. The sides are painted with Benjamin Moore's "Sweet Pear" which is a yellow shade in the Pottery Barn 2007 summer colors collection. The bottom of the canvas was also first primed with Benjamin Moore's Georgian Green
About the Artist
Exhibited at galleries and selected for prestigious juried shows throughout the New York tri-state area, Ms Schulman's works are also included in private collections internationally. She has been published in The New York Times, and was recently a winner at Waterworks 2006 in Westchester. Schulman's uniqueness comes from her mastery of watercolor for portraits; a medium rarely used for portraits but is ideal for expressing luminosity of skin tones. The artist studied art and art history while at DartmouthCollege.
