About This Piece:
This is an original signed one of a kind artwork by New York artist Miriam Schulman. The piece is drawn from a live model using red and brown pastel pencils with touches of white chalk on high quality Canson-Mi-Tientes paper. The paper color is oyster with a heavy body and gorgeous woven texture.
A young woman sensually sits in front of a window. The northern light falls softly across her body. There is a lot of pattern from the pillows the sheets and her robe. The face is drawn in the spirit of the Italian Renaissance masters.
Exhibited at galleries and selected for prestigious juried shows throughout the New York tri-state area, Schulman's works are also included in private collections internationally. She has been published in The New York Times, and was recently a winner at Waterworks in Westchester. Schulman's uniqueness comes from her mastery of watercolor for portraits. The artist studied art and art history while at Dartmouth College and then pursued a Masters degree at M.I.T and a career on Wall Street. She left Wall Street and the hedge fund world behind in order to pursue her passion for art full time. Schulman is an active juried member of The Mamaroneck Artist Guild, The Scarsdale Art Association and the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists.
